THE ANSWER FOR OUR FAITH

Without becoming weak in faith he contemplated his own body, now as good as dead since he was about a hundred years old, and the deadness of Sarah's womb; yet, with respect to the promise of God, he did not waver in unbelief but grew strong in faith, giving glory to God, and being fully assured that what God had promised, He was able also to perform. Therefore IT WAS ALSO CREDITED TO HIM AS RIGHTEOUSNESS. - Romans 4:19-23 NASU

We don’t need others to spread their unbelief to us. We have enough of our own making! God is not confined to our circumstances. He is bound to our belief or unbelief. Abraham acknowledged his circumstances was dead on arrival. If God is going to fulfill the promise of a child to two people past their prime, then God will have to pause the natural for the supernatural.

It is not unbelief to take inventory of your situation. Facts are facts. We must acknowledge that we can’t save ourselves but need a Savior. And this is true in all the promises of God. We can’t add one cubit to our stature. And whatever the promise of God is in our life, we were born with that weakness that only God can remedy and get the glory.

It wasn’t Abraham and Sarah’s fault that they couldn’t conceive a child. In the New Testament, it wasn’t the parents or their blind son’s fault that he was born blind. But it was for the glory of God. We are all in situations that weren’t anyone’s fault. We were born into it, a fallen world. But it is our fault if we choose unbelief rather than be fully assured that He is well able and willing to perform what He has promised.

We can waste time and resources blaming society, our family tree, our church, and our spouse, or we can believe that God knows the situation and that we are unable to assist in the outcome. How do we do the works of God, asked the disciples? Jesus answered, only believe. That is our responsibility to believe without wavering in faith. Anyone who waivers in faith should not expect anything from God.

Without faith, we cannot please God. God gives grace to the humble and resists those who are proud. Don’t be proud as you look at your circumstances and say God can do nothing. Or that God won’t do it for me. Resist unbelief when you are taking inventory of your cause. When we can be honest with ourselves and our situation and still believe in God without wavering, we join Abraham in the counted as a righteous club. Believe in Jesus and His resurrected power, and we become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus for simply believing!

Unbelief happens when you look more at your ability to change than God’s ability. You believed God and His promise in the beginning. But now that you took inventory of the situation, your faith was undone and replaced with unbelief. Unbelief is worse than never believing in the first place. Non-believers will investigate a matter every once in a while and will not believe it. Unbelievers will stop believing and then walk away, never to believe again. If you have been living a life of unbelief in any of the promises of God, repent and turn to God again. His grace is sufficient even in a life of unbelief. Consider not your circumstances as too big or far gone for God to change.

Scripture

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. - Hebrews 10:22-25 KJV

Scripture

but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; - 1 Peter 3:15 KJV

Scripture

What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops. - Matthew 10:26-28 KJV
