THE ANSWER FOR OUR FAITH

The Holy Bible is being called irrelevant by today’s generation in addressing today’s issues. And this is true in many churches because the only message many churches preach is John 3:16, the cornerstone of the gospel but not the full counsel of God.

In my observations, people see the Holy Bible in three different ways. The first group sees the Holy Bible as ‘the Good Book’: a book full of wisdom, morals and underdogs whom have become victors. All this is true, it is a good book, but morals won’t save your soul. Besides, the Holy Bible is as good as Jesus is good. When a man told addressed Jesus as good master, Jesus responded, who, “Why do you call me good? There is no good but God.” The same can be said of the Holy Bible, many do not consider the Bible a good book after it reveals man’s sin and his need for a savior. The Holy Bible is a good book for how to live a moral life. In fact, it is the best book in all the earth on how to live a moral life.  But it is the only book on the earth that leads to eternal life through the conviction of sin that leads to Jesus Christ.

The second group sees the Holy Bible as a book of doctrines and God’s will. They know the Holy Bible and hand out scriptures for everything. They are saved by grace through faith and know it. But this group also comes up short of the glory of God, in that they often miss the leading of the Holy Spirit. Just as in Jesus’ day, they move back and forth through scripture thinking they have eternal life but miss the One who is eternal life. Their life is consumed with the tree of knowledge of good and evil in the fact they lean to their own understanding of scripture without the leading into all truth by the Holy Spirit. Scriptures are memorized, Bible reading plans have been check marked but the meditation that was commanded to Joshua to bring success goes unchecked and all are left with a fleeting hope that this Book may be true.

The third group sees the Holy Bible as God incarnate. The Word that became flesh and that flesh that has become our Word. This group of people read the Holy Bible as if God is presently speaking to them. And He is. They spend countless hours reading and meditating allowing the Holy Spirit to lead into all truth. They meditate on the Words of the Holy Bible until there is transformation in everyday life. Their eyes of understanding are opened and see the Holy Bible as a resurrected living person worthy to spend time in. To them, the Holy Bible is a book that is the same yesterday, today and forever but with a new depth and love every time it is read and acted upon.

Jesus said that He was in the world but not of the world. Well, so is the Bible. The Holy Bible is in this world but not of this world. If we want to live the life that Jesus redeemed us for then we must see the Written Word as the resurrected Life that it is. It is relevant for today, restorative for yesterday, and cultivates tomorrow. It is practical, informative, and even entertaining. There is no soil in my life that has not been curried with the seed of God. And with this I hope to teach the world practical, relevant and spiritual wisdom that can be obtained by anyone who is willing to put the Word of God first place in their life.

Scripture

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold fast the profession of our faith without wavering; (for he is faithful that promised;) And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. - Hebrews 10:22-25 KJV

Scripture

but sanctify Christ as Lord in your hearts, always being ready to make a defense to everyone who asks you to give an account for the hope that is in you, yet with gentleness and reverence; - 1 Peter 3:15 KJV

Scripture

What I tell you in the darkness, speak in the light; and what you hear whispered in your ear, proclaim upon the housetops. - Matthew 10:26-28 KJV
